Ouch....my gall bladder!

I'm finally home from the hospital. Get home on Thursday. Last Thursday night, Oda Momma was working and I made Oda Mae and I some chili for dinner. Later that evening I started getting some heartburn and a stomach ache and thought that maybe the meat I had used had gone bad. Even later I wasn't feeling so hot. The stomach ache turned into cramping and #10 pain on a scale of 1 - 10. By 2:30am the pain had subsided and I felt like going to bed. The next few days I had a bit of a stomach ache, but nothing major. I thought I had just gotten food poisoning or something. Fortunately, Oda Mae seemed fine.

Sunday night after eating some Italian food that afternoon, it started happening again. This time it wasn't as intense, but the pain lasted ALL NIGHT! By 5am I had vomited about 7 times and the pain wasn't going away. I woke up Oda Momma and told her to call my mom and ask her to come over to watch Oda Mae while she took me to the E.R.

I could barely walk. When I got to the E.R. they got me in quickly and very soon I was on morphine. I had x-rays, sonograms, all kinds of stuff. They found several gall stones and a pretty inflamed gall bladder. After pumping me full of antibiotics for two days I had surgery on Wednesday morning. The surgeon said that when he got in there, my gall bladder was worse than he had expected. He was surprised that may symptoms weren't worse or that I hadn't had them for longer.

Now I'm home recovering. Oda Momma is taking good care of me. Lot's of family have been helping take care of Oda Mae this week and we thank you! Another couple days of rest and I should be doing much better.

My MIL came over last night to watch Oda Mae while Oda Momma went to work. She said she had a lady friend who was able to compare the pain of a bad gall bladder to labor pains. I have to say that if I were the one having the babies at this point. We would NOT be having any more!

Getting a bit dizzy now. Better go lay down...

Dominus Vobiscum,

-OD
