The end of a crazy week...

Today was the Fort Worth Stockyards celebration of Blue Bell's 100 anniversary. For you city folk up north, Blue Bell is THE ice cream here in the south (arguably). If you work there you get to "eat all you can and sell the rest". We got up early, did some chores and headed out for a morning of fun. Unfortunately, today was Friday and everybody else had to work. It was just me and my girl. We both had a GREAT time.

Check it out...

The first thing we did was head over to the bouncing station. It was in the shape of a Blue Bell 1/2 Gallon Vanilla.

Then we got an authentic Blue Bell ice cream hat.

Then we went to check out he longhorns!

After that, it was time for some good old fashioned Blue Bell Ice Cream.

One of the best parts of the day was when Oda Mae won the Stick Horse Race!

We were one of the first in line for balloon animals.

Afterwords, we made our way over to the cattle drive!!!!!!!

We had a few minutes to spare so I put Oda Mae in the Ft. Worth Jail!

When she got out, we strolled over to the big gunfight show.

Then we came home, ate lunch (PB&J), and took a much deserved nap.

Yep, I'd say we made memories today. Can't wait until the next time.

What a crazy week...

Oda Mae and I have been inside most of the week cause of all the rain. Oda Momma told me that we were getting Florida's weather for some reason.

Oda Mae and I have been playing Barbies quite a lot. For anyone who cares, we need more clothes!

Monday we went to do some chores for Granny. Mostly plumming...I hate plumming, but I didn't have any problems this time around. That's a change!

Tuesday night we took Oda Mae out with our friends (in the torential rains) to eat Vietnemese food. She liked the chop sticks! Not so much Vietnemese food though.

Wednesday morning, Oda Momma and I took Oda Mae to see her first real movie in the theatre! There is a free summer movie at the local RAVE Theatre. The only G movie they are showing this summer (which BTW makes NO sense to me) was Charlotte's Web. Oda Momma and I forgot that a while back a "real" movie was made. We were thinking THE CARTOON. Oda Mae did very well. We didn't have to leave until just over an hour into the movie. She like the talking ducks!

Today, we went out looking for a "new" Photoshop disk cause I've messed up my computer pretty bad this week. I found Ver. 1.1 at a local thrift store for $10.00. It's better than $100.00 for a new Ver. 5.0. So far it seems to still do everything I was doing on Ver. 2.0.

Oh yea...We found "Rachel" today with her head popped off. It kind of scared Oda Mae until we started playing "Who Wants A Lobotomy". Okay, I know that's awful, but it was just too funny...

"Rachel" Before

"Rachel" After

I'm completely caught up on the AREA 365 Photos. If you want to look at them all in one place, double click on my FLICKR page over there to the left. I've also updated MY LITTLE PEOPLE PAGE. It's been a while since I updated that page. We've got something like 30 new Little People added to our collection! BTW we're taking suggestions on new "Movies" to make with our Little People. If there's something you would like to see....we'll consider it.

That is all for now.

Seems I've found myself with the day off today. Whatever am I to do?

GG called day before YESTERDAY and asked if she could take Oda Mae for a while, like overnight and stuff. I asked her how long would she like to keep her! Oda Momma and I took Oda Mae to GG's work yesterday afternoon all packed up and ready to spend the night. Afterwords we went to the waterpark and rode all the rides Oda Mae can't. Then we went to eat at the "Super China Buffet" down the street. Then we went to go see Pirates 3 at the Rave. I think we made the most of our evening alone.

Today, Oda Momma has to work, but I'm stuck here all by myself. The world is my oyster! Maybe I'll go back to the water park for a day of cool fun. :) Or, I could do something productive...we'll see.

The Obligatory Father's Day Post

Oda Momma gave me some time off yesterday afternoon for the big day as she had to work most of today and is still not home yet. I worked on my genealogy, got to go to the library and NOT look for "Juvenile Fiction". It was nice to be able to be a little selfish for a while.

Today we took the Oda fam over to PaPa Mike's house for a good ol' BBQ. Dad was out making burgers, chicken, and sausages at 10:00 this morning cause we had to leave early. Not only that, it was pouring down rain! We had a great lunch...THANK YOU!

After that, Oda Mae and I came home and took a nap, played with our Little People, played with our New "University" Barbie and cleaned up the house a bit. We ate some dinner and she had a bath then we had quite time and finished reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". We'll put that on our reading list for this week.

We also called my dad and left him a father's day message. Hope he gets it.

Tomorrow it's back to the grindstone. I've got some pretty cool stuff planned for us to do over the next few weeks. I should have some interesting stories.

The Elephant Song

I put this here so Oda Mae and I could watch it tomorrow. I'm tempted to go get her out of bed to watch it with me. I guess I'll have to wait.

Meanwhile, I'll go put more aloe on my sunburned body. We finally made it to the water park last Saturday. Oda Mae had a GREAT time. We're going again soon.

I've started to catch up on AREA 365 after the whole hospital thing. I'm going to start posting the most recent pictures as well, and fill in the missing dates as the days go by.

We went to our first Concerts in the Garden Sunday evening. We got to see Patty Griffin. She has a nice voice. Oda Mae LOVED it. She danced all night! Can't wait to see the Classical Mystery Tour and A Night at the Oscars this weekend.

Oda Mae and I made our way to the library today to turn in our 10 Day report of reading for at least 20 minutes a day. The librarian told Oda Mae that she was the first person that had come in and logged in for 10 days. She got a COOL book bag and a certificate. She is now entered into a drawing for more prizes at the end of the month.

Gettin' Sleepy....

...this will be short.

Oda Mae is doing very well in her summer reading program. We're reading all kinds of books. We check out 10 at a time from the library. It seems like we need to go back every couple of days, but she doesn't mind re-reading some of them over and over again. The one we have now that she wants to read is "A Chocolate Mouse for Dinner" by Fred Gwynn. Yep, THIS is Fred Gwynn. He wrote a few children's books. This one happens to be kind of cute, although a bit "politically outdated".

Yesterday, we went to the library to see the clowns from the Ringling Bros. Circus when they stopped by a local branch to encourage reading. I believe Oda Mae has COULROPHOBIA. I don't think I should read "It" to her any time soon. It might prove to be a bit much. She was much happier when we got home and played with the bookmark and the red clown nose we got.

Oda Mae also found a ballerina video at the library the other day. She likes to dance. We've been learning the basics of ballet a couple of days now. Don't think that I won't punch anyone in the nose for making fun of me learning ballet with Oda Mae! Don't even go there....

Tonight while Oda Momma went to work (she's got a crazy schedule this week). We went to the duck pond to feed the ducks. I've got some good pics to share. I'll get them up soon.

Tomorrow is our trip to Hurricane Harbor to get our season tickets. Wish us luck!

Getting Better Now

Yep, I'm able to walk around, drive, do all sorts of things now. I'm still just a bit sore but I'm going to live. I've been taking care of Oda Mae on my own now for a few days. I still have to be careful picking her up. I was supposed to have a DR's appointment yesterday afternoon, but he was called into emergency surgery, so I was canceled. I'm glad to know it wasn't MY emergency surgery.

I got a statement from the hospital yesterday. They said that they would be billing my insurance company. Ever wonder how much it cost to have your gall bladder taken out?......

Now you know.

I'm curious about the charge for "Material Management" for $6.32. Does that mean that they charged me $6.32 to "dispose" of my gall bladder. Geez, I would have taken it home in a jar and disposed of it my self to save 6 bucks.

Then you got the cost of the surgery itself. Now I KNOW I'm in the wrong business, but nooooooo. I had to go into the music business. I had to do something I already knew that I enjoyed. Couldn't go into pre-med or anything like that. I might not like it. Hindsight is 20/20 huh?

Anyway, I took the fam to Hurricane Harbor yesterday afternoon to pick up our season passes. They closed at 6pm. We got there at 5:55, so we'll go again Thursday or Friday. We're doing the water park this summer in lieu of The Little Gym. Also, Oda Mae is doing the Summer Reading program at the library. She is very excited about earning a book bag and other prizes for reading 20 minutes a day. We've found some really great books so far. I'll tell you about them some other time.
