Phase 1 Complete

Lieutenant: General, we’ve completed Phase 1 of operation S-D-W-A-M-H-I-B-T-Y-C-L-E, sir.

General: That’s good news Lieutenant! Do you have photographic conformation that the operation was completed successfully?

Lieutenant: Yes General, sir. Here it is, sir.

General: Lieutenant.

Lieutenant: Yes, General, sir.

General: Do any of the neighbors have any suspicions about what is going on?

Lieutenant: General, sir. Some of the neighbors have been peeping out their windows to try and get a look, but I don’t think they know exactly what is taking place. However, General, sir, there was one neighbor who drove by slowly this afternoon, looked at the soldiers and rolled his eyes while shaking his head. However, I don’t think he’ll be a problem, sir.

General: Why do you think he won’t be a problem, Lieutenant?

Lieutenant: Well, General, sir. I don’t think he will ever gain the holiday spirit. He’s never even so much as put a tree in his front window, sir.

General: Never be too cautious, Lieutenant. Make sure you keep an eye on him!

Lieutenant: Yes, General, sir.

General: Lieutenant, it’s time to commence Phase 2 of operation S-D-W-A-M-H-I-B-T-Y-C-L-E.

Lieutenant: Pardon, my objection sir, but isn’t it too early to commence Phase 2 of operation S-D-W-A-M-H-I-B-T-Y-C-L-E?

General: Lieutenant, you want to be in full combat by November 22; do you not?

Lieutenant: Yes, General, sir.

General: Then I suppose you better get to work on Phase 2 immediately.

Lieutenant: Yes, General, sir. Phase 2 will commence at 0700 tomorrow morning.

General: That’s good Lieutenant. I’ll expect a full report when you and your men are finished.

The 3:30 am Haiku

She finally sleeps.
Daddy does not sleep. Awwww Man!
"That's what Swiper says."

This is the kind of stuff that goes through my head for a couple hours every other night. I think there might be something wrong.

Today Oda Mae and I are beginning phase 1 of the Super-Duper-Way-Awesome-My-House-Is-Better-Than-Yours-Christmas-Light-Extravaganza.

Open letter to all of my neighbors:

Dear Neighbors:

If you don't start putting up lights in the next two weeks, you're going to lose again!

So, I've always called these "Crabapples", but I can't seem to find them on the internet anywhere. What do you call it?

It's the Great Pumpkin Oda Mae

Yesterday, the fam and I went out to a local pumpkin patch to have some Fall fun. I have to say, it exceeded our expectations. The admission was free, that's the best part. There were plenty of opportunities for photos with all the hay and pumpkins everywhere. Oda Mae got to ride around on a toy tractor and sit on a real tractor and have her picture made.

We did pay $5.00 for a trek through a cornfield "maize" maze. :)

Also, a $1.00 fee for a tractor hay ride out to feed the cows and donkeys was worth way more than we paid.
We brought home a small pumpkin (Oda Mae sized) so we could test out my new black backdrop.

We had a good time!

Dominus vobiscum,
-Oda Daddy

Walked Away...

Well, after a week and a half of car shopping Oda Momma and I had decided to try and get a "family" vehicle. We had a good price ($6000.00 under invoice), decent warranty and they delivered the car to the dealer on Tuesday. That evening we went to sign the papers and they tried to stick us with 8.5% financing for 72 months! Oda Momma and I have nearly perfect credit. There was NO way we were going to spend that much money on a vehicle. We kindly thanked them and walked out of the dealership.

The next day the sales manager called me to "apologize". Because he and the salesman I had been working with were off that day, my deal didn't go through. He asked me if he could run the numbers again and call me back in 5 minutes. When he did he came back with 6.35% at 60 months with the same monthly payment. I told him I would think about it and that my wife and I were pretty put off by what had happened the night before.

I went back to the dealership a while later and they had my finance charges down to 6.29 and had given me a bumper to bumper 7 year/100,000 mile warranty at cost. I signed the papers and drove Oda Momma to work in Dallas yesterday afternoon in this...

It's a 2007 New-To-Me Nissan Armada. Low milage and lots of little perks. Seats up to 8 passengers. I told Oda Momma that if we should ever be expecting sextuplets we'd be set.

This morning Oda Mae and I went to Sam's to pick up a few things. We had PLENTY of room...

Now we're planning family trips! The first one is Saturday, October 13: we're going to the fair. Feel free to come along!

The next trip we know we'll be going on is a little trek up to South Dakota for USDMAC's graduation in May. Again, anyone who wants to ride with us is welcome.

Starting to catch up again...

Since Oda Momma's car accident, things have been pretty busy around the Oda Household and I haven't had the time or energy to blog. We had a rental car over the weekend after the accident (that's all they would give us!) Cheep B@%$#^S! According to most of the people we talked to, we got a pretty decent settlement on the car. It was a 1997 Toyota Corolla with nearly 200,000 miles on it and they gave us $3500.00 for it. Not enough to get us back to where we were before, but it will help a little in purchasing a new vehicle. Oda Momma is still a little sore, but getting better every day. The "pain and suffering" settlement wasn't as good of a deal. Hindsight being 20/20 I think we could have gotten more.

I made it through another birthday last week.

Granny Jeanne had dental surgery last week and spent a couple of days with us. She's doing better now. I have to say, they gave her some sleeping pills to take last Thursday morning and by the time we left the house, got something to eat for breakfast and made it to the dentists office she was quite the comedian! She didn't remember a thing! I just wish I had thought to take some video. I'll remember that for next time. :)

I've been car shopping for a week now. Tomorrow is the big unveiling of what I found. It's supposed to get here around 6pm so I'll make another post tomorrow telling you about my deal.

PHOTOHUNTER: ORIGINAL

First of all, I'm going to have to stay on the ball more with this project. I missed last week. :(

This is an original game of "Stick the Eyes on Daddy" I made for Oda Mae. This week we are learning about eyes!
