Cool New Mixer from Mom!
This bad boy has a Tilt Head, All-Metal Construction, Direct Drive Transmission with a 325 Watt, 9 Cup Flour Power Motor. We're also talking a 5 Quart Bowl capacity with 67 Point Planetary Mixing Action. We can go as high as 10 speeds and whip out something good with the Multi-Purpose Attachment Hub in no time flat.
Since then, I've made deep dish Chicago style pizza, two cakes (the first one of which didn't turn out very well 'cause I accidental used flour tortilla mix instead of all purpose flour), mashed potatoes, and....Kolaches.
I was inspired by my trip to Fredericksburg a few days ago to make my own. I have to admit that they turned out pretty good.
Oda Mae was looking forward to tasting some...
After dinner and a kolache to top her off, she was done..."No more kolaches, Daden...please."
Yeah, you want one now don't you?
Go Daden, Go Daden....

A Good Hair Day
The next morning we got up, ate breakfast, played a little and while Oda Momma was in the shower, we decided to give it a go with the hair. We gathered all the necessary supplies...
Yes, I spilled the water. That's what the towel was for. Then we worked, and worked...Oda Mae said Ouch!!! a few times. I had to get my trowel out with some mortar mix, but it finally came together...
Then Oda Momma got out of the shower and told us what a good job we did and that now we needed to get Oda Mae's clothes on.
I new then that I still had much to learn. Yep, I should have put Oda Mae's clothes on first...
Ya' live and learn don't ya...
But, we fixed it and put on some cool glasses and went out later for some fun.
It's all good!

Collecting Dead Relatives
During my Fredericksburg concert (see post below) a gentleman came up to me during intermission and asked that question. This time, things turned out differently than they usually do.
Apparently, this gentleman worked with my grandfather way back when. He said he was a nice man. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to speak with him for very long. But, I did get a picture.

Fredericksburg
I was thinking that a lot of people probably don't know what it's like to be up in front of 200 people doing anything. So I decided to take a picture and post it on my blog. Put yourself in the mindset and here we go...
Nervous? That's okay, just imagine these people in their underwear. Scary thought ain't it? I'd rather be nervous.
On the way to and from the concert a buddy and I stopped at the Czech Bakery in West, Texas. They've got the best baked goods around. Just north of Waco on I35. It's right on the highway so you can't miss it.
Despite their wardrobe...they have some of the best Kolaches you can find. I actually bought several to give to my Mom and my Sis. But...I forgot to give them to Mom when she came over last night. Guess I'll have to eat theirs before they go bad.
We also stopped at a place called Mamacita's to eat dinner after the concert there in Fredericksburg.
They've got some pretty good vittles there. They also have some pretty scary neon/aqua/blue-green salsa there as well. It tasted okay and I'm not glowing yet, so I guess it was okay. The pic below doesn't do justice to the color that it really was.
All in all it was a fun day. I'd do it again.

Yea, for Gran!
Looks like the weather is going to warm up this week. Guess that means I should finish getting those Christmas lights off the house. I had a really good time in Fredericksburg yesterday. The eight hour round trip has me a little worn out today so I'll put up a post tomorrow about that.

Come in. Make yourself at home....
This is my new blog where I will let you all know what the family is up to these days. Feel free to check out my "old" blog, "The Oda Mae Baby Blog". It documents my daughters life from the time we found out we were pregnant to when she is almost two years old. The Famfare will be a bit more generic in content. It will not only update you on "Oda Mae's" progress in the world, but my and my families progress in the world. I am also adding some new features that I will be introducing you to over the next few days.
The family acquired a new camera a few days ago so that we could take even more pics of our daily lives. One of the new blog "segments" that I am very excited about is called "AREA 365". This will be daily photo posts of things I see. Sometimes it will be a pic of Oda Mae or Oda Momma or someone else in the family. Other times it will be a picture of something that I would like to remember. You just never know.
CDR: "Collecting Dead Relatives" will be another very exciting segment. Some of you know that Oda Momma and I are avid genealogists. This segment will include anything I feel "blogable" (is that a word?) about how my genealogy research is going. Sometimes it may be a simple tip on how to research your own ancestors; other times it will be very specific to my own research.
You can expect a "Vlog" every now and then as well. What's a vlog? Why a Video Web Log of course. I'm not sure if I will like this kind of documentation of my life so I'll give it a try when I'm comfortable with the idea. We'll have to wait and see if it becomes a regular segment here at The Famfare.
That’s all I’m letting you in on for now. I’m sure that I’ll have more to share during the next several days. I’ve done a lot of reformatting for this webpage. Let me know you have any problems viewing The Famfare. I may need to re-reformat. Any suggestions for additional “segments” will certainly be considered as well. Be sure to leave me a comment letting me know what you think of the new blog.
